Wicked Wednesday – 11/09/16

Hello all,

Well here I am back with another WW after missing last week, I almost didn’t post today but after an incredibly tense election night, I needed something to distract me LOL.

I think I will call this WW the Strange edition … can you guess who this week’s spotlight is on?  Want a hint?

He’s a talented actor who is as comfortable performing Shakespeare as he is sitting backwards on a Khool toilet ….

He’s currently in the number 1 movie in America ….

C’mon ….. last hint

He kind of looks like an otter …..

It’s Benedict Cumberbatch! Continue reading

Wicked Wednesday – 10/26/16

Helloooooo

So, today’s WW will be a little short – after that immense blog about day 1 of Comic Con, I figured more pics less text LOL.

Plus, the truth is, I don’t really know much about today’s subject except that he was a professional Rugby player and has now turned to modeling full time.

Who is it …..?

Comic Con – Day 1 – 10/7/2016

Hello!

*Disclaimer again, please let me know if you want to share any of the photos in these posts – I will gladly let you have full sized versions all I ask for is credit.

Okay so here we are ready to jump into what was the most amazing, most terrifying, most awe-inspiring event I have ever been to. New York Comic Con (NYCC16).  This might go long so I may split it up into 2 posts, I mean I don’t want to bore you, right?

As I’ve said before I am a huge nerd, geek and all around sci-fi nut and I have been going to cons for YEARS, but none of them could have prepared me for NYCC16 – Comic Cons are the biggest cons around.  San Diego is probably the most well known and the largest of them all, but New York’s is nothing to turn your nose up at, it was bigger than anything I’ve ever been to.

I’ve been trying to get to NYCC for years, but for one reason or another I could never get up there.  Then last year I juuuuuust managed to get a one day ticket (do not get me started on the ticketing process for this, it is ridonkulous), but bad juju and a busted air conditioner pretty much put the kabosh on me actually being able to go (cue depressing music).

This year, however, I was on a mission.  I was determined to go and the con gods looked down at me and said “Meh, okay you can go for two days”.  Hey, it’s better than the one day I had last year, and if this trend continues maybe I will FINALLY get my 3 day pass.

So a little backstory if you’ve never heard of Comic Con … but really, who hasn’t at least heard mention of it?  Well here’s a primer.  Comic Con is one of the largest gatherings of all things comic, sci-fi, horror, anime and fantasy.  And it takes all of those genres and represents them in all its forms – so there are comic book companies, anime companies, television shows, movies and publishers (be still my little author heart – books!).  To say it is overwhelming is an understatement.

Okay ready to jump in?  Let’s go!

Wicked Wednesday – 10/19/2016 Edition

downloadSo here we are another Wicked Wednesday and I have to feature the one and only, Mr. Richard Armitage.  What can I say?  I have RA on the brain, you really can’t blame me, I did JUST meet him LOL.

Richard Armitage is the type of actor who could have easily been pigeon-holed into the hot leading man slot, especially after his turn as sullen, bull-headed cotton mill owner, John Thornton, in the BBC’s adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South (not to be confused with the Civil War miniseries starring Patrick Swayze).

John Thornton in North and South

It was a role that shot him into the consciousness of women around the world.

He followed that with small parts in several well known shows in England before making his next big move to co-starring in the BBC’s version of Robin Hood where he played leather clad, guyliner wearing, baddie Guy of Gisborne.

As Guy in Robin Hood

Again, he could have been pinned down playing the antagonist, if he hadn’t turned around to play the love interest and eventual husband of Dawn French in the hilariously funny Vicar of Dibley.

Soon after that, he began getting more action oriented roles which gave him the opportunity to star in MI-5 (Spooks), that led him into higher profile roles such as a bit part in Captain America: The First Avenger (playing a Nazi), Strike Back (also starring a pre-Walking Dead Andrew Lincoln) to what is his biggest role to date – Thorin Oakensheild in Guillermo Del Toro’s Hobbit Trilogy.  On television he was most recently seen playing Francis Dolarhyde (Red Dragon) on Hannibal and can currently be seen on Epix in Berlin Station.

He’s also gone back to theater, something he did very early in his career, while he can currently be seen in Love, Love, Love (see my previous post regarding my NYC trip) he also had an amazing stint in The Crucible in London a couple of years ago.

Well, there you have it.  This week’s featured man :).

Until Next Time,

Vacation all I ever wanted … Vacation have to get away ….

Did I just date myself with that title?  Did I give you an earworm?  Sorry, if it helps I now have it in my head as well LOL.

So to begin I’d like to ask that if there are pictures in any of these posts you’d like to share, please let me know.  Not all the photos I will share were taken by me and I’d like to be able to have you give credit where credit is due.  Also, I will be watermarking the pics, so if you’d like one without it I would be happy to provide it for you again all I ask is for credit.

That said, here we are at the first of four, maybe 5, posts about my incredible trip to NYC.  If you didn’t know, New York is my home.  The Bronx, to be exact.  Since moving to Florida I try to get back as much as possible.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet up with old friends and that is my one regret about the trip.

The last year and a half has been a pretty dismal one for me, from work problems to the death of one of my best friends it’s been pretty hellish.  So I have been looking forward to getting away from it all.

I was supposed to go to Comic Con last year, but circumstances prevented it (bad juju I swear it) and I missed out.  Comic Con has been on my list of things to do for forever!  I am a geek, a proud nerd and sci-fi fanatic.  So when the opportunity to go this year came around, I jumped at the chance.  I won’t talk about how ridiculous it is to get tickets, but the mere fact that I did when the tally for attendees was estimated at 180,000 is amazing, perhaps things in life were looking up?

As the con dates approached it seemed other things were working in my favor, not just guests who were going to attend the con, but other things on the days we weren’t going to be there.  Which leads me to day 1.

Wicked Wednesday – 10/13/16 Edition

Well I am BACK from my whirlwind trip to NYC and let me tell you it was certainly a whirlwind trip.  I was busy almost everyday – we did get rained out one day because of Hurricane Matthew – but it was a much needed rest day where we basically vegged out on the couch in our jammies eating junk food and watching Netflix LOL.

So while I get myself together writing up blogs about Captain America statues, off-Broadway Plays, Comic Con and watching the filming of a Web Series, please enjoy this week’s Wicked Wednesday …. Continue reading

Coming Soon….

Now that I am home I can set up my next few blog posts.  I will be featuring my trip to NYC.  It was a great trip to recharge and get inspired by, after all I got to meet several actors who have or will inspire characters I write.

There will be posts for each of the 2 days I was at Comic Con, a blog post about a play I saw and of course another for my trip to a taping of a web series and the 15 minutes of Doctor Strange we viewed at the IMAX theater.

I will be uploading pictures tonight so hopefully I can get a Wicked Wednesday up for you all then I will follow every couple of days with posts about my trips. I hope you’ll like them.

Until Next Time,

Wicked Wednesday – Sept. 28 Edition

So here we are another week another Wicked Wednesday post.

Sorry for the delay I meant to get this out this morning, but I forgot to schedule it and it was sitting here as a draft – whoops!  But never fear, I promise to be more vigilant in scheduling and trying to get them out in the AM.

So now on to who is this week’s honoree?

Well, he’s an actor who first hit my radar on The Young and the Restless in 1994.  He has gone on to star in movies and television shows.  He seems to appreciate ladies – no matter, color, size or anything else.  He refers to them as his Baby Girls ….
