So I’ve decided that I am not going to keep this blog for my writing stuff alone – where’s the fun in that?  No, I am going to make this more about me and the stuff I like or dislike and what have you.

So, in that vein, I’ve decided to dedicate posts on crates or boxes.  I know what you’re thinking, what the heck is she going on about – Boxes?  Crates?  Well apparently the new thing gaining momentum are these companies that will send you samples or foods for a monthly fee.

I subscribe to two different “Boxes” or “Crates”.  They each represent a different side of me.  One is from ipsy.  Ipsy is my girlie choice.  Ipsy is the brainchild of Michelle Phan who is an amazing YouTube sensation.  She does amazing things with make-up.  Each month they send you a “Glam Bag” filled with great make-up finds, and not just make-up, but brushes, creams and hair stuff as well.  It’s $10/Month which is not bad.  To get started all you need to do is take a quiz listing your likes and interests so every bag is geared toward you.  I’ve been with Ipsy for about 3 months now and I have loved everything I’ve gotten so far.  Each month has a theme and each bag matches it.  I’ve just gotten this month’s bag about a week ago so I will do a blog on that soon.

My other monthly subscription service is to LootCrate.

Okay, so LootCrate is a geek’s best friend.  Their “crate” is $20 a month but it is filled with all sorts of collectibles and swag and sometimes even Tees so it seems like a pretty decent amount to cover all that plus shipping and handling as well.  Also, a lot of the things they give you are exclusive to LootCrate so if you’re a collector that may interest you as well.  The items run the gamut from comics to sci-fi to fantasy and each month is themed as well.
