As I close out 2017 and look forward at 2018 I can take a deep breath … and smile.
The last couple of years have been a little rough for me and as a result writing took a back seat, like waaaay back of the bus back seat. I was miserable and as a result, my health suffered, my mental status suffered and my writing suffered. But the second half of 2017 was a transition for me, I got a new job where I’m really happy and appreciated, I was able to travel a bit and spend time with one of my best friends. I spent a fantastic week at the beach with my family and I became a godmother for the 4th time to a little boy I adore (I now have 2 matching sets LOL). I am now a healthier, happier me.
So I look forward to 2018 with a new sense of hope and new determination as I get back into the swing of things with my poor MS. A lot of people have been waiting and I am TRULY sorry, but I am going back to it especially since I’ve had some time to reflect on it and why it’s been so difficult to rewrite and rewrite annnnnd rewrite, yes I am going on rewrite #4. However, I think I have finally managed to figure out what is not working for me. You can’t force it no matter how hard you try and I think I was overthinking a lot of it and not trusting my instincts, so I will hit rewrite #4 hard and tackle it and I hope to have it finished and submitted by spring at the latest. Someone quick! old me accountable!!!
After that, well I can go in a couple of directions. I’ve been working on a regency outline that I like for a trilogy and I also have a contemporary witch trilogy that I’d like to start as well (if you’ve read my short in the TIME OUT OF DARKNESS anthology – they are related to the heroine in that story). I also brainstormed another idea with a couple of writer friends about a sports series, so who knows where I’ll go? Of course there are always more Benandanti stories that have to be told as well.
In addition to getting back to the grind for stories, I would like to try to be a better blogger – with that in mind, I just remembered that I had forgotten about posting about NY Comic Con where I had a BLAST, so that’s coming up in the next week. And I’ve decided to blog more about myself – even if I think it’s not as exciting as meeting Mark Hamill LOL.
I’ve also gotten back to reading, I hadn’t read for pleasure in AGES so I am doing more of that. Basically, I am getting back to the business of doing things I enjoy and finding happiness in it.
So that’s that. I hope 2018 brings you love, happiness and prosperity in all its forms.
Until Next Time (and no it won’t be MONTHS from now LOL),
