I looooooove the 80’s!!!!
Ahh the Waitresses of “I know what boys want” fame. The 80’s were a fun decade with lots of bubblegum pop and this song is just fun AND it’s a romance with music – what’s there to hate??
And because it’s Friday (And my day at the day job to put out treats for my coworkers) I will give you my first recipe. It’s my banana bread with optional rum glaze (if you want to make it drunken monkey banana bread or as I am calling it for the holidays – drunken elf)
Banana Bread
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 1/2 Cup Butter or Margarine
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 2 Cups sifted All Purpose Flour
- 1 Tsp Baking Soda
- 1 Tsp Baking Powder
- 1 Cup Mashed Bananas (Usually 3 small to medium or 2 large – or whatever your preference is)
- 3 Tbsp Milk
I usually mix all the dry ingredients then add the egg and milk. In a separate bowl I mix the banana and butter. Gradually add banana mixture to dry ingrediants and mix well.
Pour into greased loaf pan and bake for approximately an hour. The loaf should bounce back when you touch it 🙂
Now to make it drunk….
Rum Glaze
- 1/2 Cup Butter or Margarine
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1/2 Cup banana rum (or the rum of your liking)
In a small pot melt butter then add sugar and water. Cook until sugar is melted then carefully add the rum (It will steam)
When loaf is cool, take a knife and poke holes alllllll over it. Place on aluminum foil or saran wrap and pour glaze all over it (soak it up good) Wrap it up and leave for 2 hours or more so the bread can soak in all the yumminess.
There you have it. If you have a recipe you’d like to share, let me know! I’d love to feature it 🙂
Until Next Time
